Lesley, regardless of where your Lily came from you must remember your heart was in the right place and you didn't know. There was a quote thread the other day and I posted one of my favorites by Maya Angelou....You did what you knew how to do, and when you knew better, you did better.
Yes, this is definitely a puppymill. Lily most likely didn't sell through the kennels normal channel (brokers) and was sold at what is called a "breeders auction". The auction company I'm aware of is within a couple of hours drive of Beauford's Kennel. Also, most likely Lily's litter mate didn't bring the kennel's minimum price at auction so she was not sold there.
This same company I'm aware of has an upcoming auction with over 100 yorkies listed to sell.......it makes me want to cry.
