Default Hyper Obsessed with Cat!!!

I have posted about this before, but never seemed to get very helpful advice. Most people just said to let them work it out or whatever, but I think this is an unusual situation. For one thing, my cat isn't a normal cat. She's a small persian cat because her mom died when she was born and my mom hand raised her. She doesn't seem to have some normal cat traits (like standing up to a less than 4 pound yorkie) because she didn't have a mama cat to teach her.

In a couple days it will be one year since I got Bailey, and I still have to keep her separated from the cat. It is very frustrating, and sad because I can never cuddle up with my cat because Bailey has taken over most of the main living areas.

On to Bailey's behavior...she just goes absolutely BONKERS over the cat. If I put the cat down near her or hold the cat when Bailey's around she will relentlessly jump on her, biting at her fur. I know she's trying to play, not fight, but she's so hyper obsessed that it really does hurt and scare the heck out of the cat (and I get scratched to bits if I'm holding her). Eventually the cat gets away and runs to jump over the gate, Bailey chases her all the way, jumping on her and going crazy biting again. Then she sniffs all over where the cat was and will even EAT clumps of cat fur left behind.

So HOW can I train this dog to be calm around the cat, or even better, to ignore her? PLEASE, please help!
