Well, you tried, that's all you can do I guess. Hopefully the pup will not be put down, and maybe, just maybe, in the future she will think twice about buying from a pet shop.
You said you worked at her HS, are you a teacher? Or maybe you can try to talk to some teachers and see if they can put some puppymill awareness (videos or something) into the lesson plan one of these days. People hear about them, but usually not until they see videos do they really get it. I dunno, just a thought.
