Make sure he gets a bile acids test. It's not part of a basic blood chemistry panel so you will have to ask for it. It's an inexpensive test, usually under $75.

If it turns out he has epilepsy, try not to panic. You never get used to seeing a seizure, but in most cases epileptic dogs live a long, full life. My Lady is 14.5.
