We did get into a better vet at Shoal Creek and Mike took her and LOVED the service he got there in comparison to Banfield. We're not going back to Banfield for anything other than shot updates and i'll just eat the cost of my mistake there ($20 a month).
The new vet suggested to wait a couple more weeks to see if she improves on her own and it heals up. If she's still not walking well on it by a couple weeks we will go back for x rays to see how bad off it is and then consider a date for surgery. Please pray that she does improve and that at least for now surgery won't be neccessary. I am aware that in the future she will only get worse and will most likely need surgery to fix her LP in the long run. We will make the best possible choice we can for Sadie and are willing to do whatever it takes to secure her knees and make her pain free and comfortable.
Pray for us please. It's rough to have this hit us so early in her little life. |
Oh duh. Just saw this. Not sure how I missed it when I posted.
Just thought I would share a little story about one of my pups and a recent happening. He has LP in his left knee and never has had an issue. One night out of the blue he was playing around and fell off of my bed. I was horrified. My pups all use steps...this was a freak thing. When I picked him up he screamed when I touched his leg. He could not put his foot down on the floor. I thought for sure it was fractured. I could tell his knee was out, but really felt somethine else was wrong. I immediately drove him to the EC .. by the time I got there he had calmed down. He was walking! The vet examined him thoroughly and felt that it was simply LP and that he was bruised. He suggested Metacam and complete rest for a few days and a follow up with my vet if he did not improve. Well, got up the next morning and he was limping, so I went to my vet who felt the same thing. This was about two weeks ago and he is running and playing and having no issues at all.
I hope this is the case with your little Sadie. Just because they have LP does not mean it will progress to a point of needing surgery.
