Short of crating him, there's not much you can do to keep him calm. The vet may (will?) probably give you some pain meds for the first day or so, which should slow him down a bit.

Puddie was "done" around 9:00 in the morning; he was home by 4:00 that afternoon. By the next day, he was pretty much his ol' self again. I have stairs for those in my household who are - shall we say? a little short in the leg! - so he didn't have to jump or anything. He was 5 months old at the time.

Boys seem to be easier than girls ... after all, it's abdominal surgery for them, whereas just a snip and judicial application of surgical glue for the boys.
