He might not like the brush you're using - maybe try something different ? There are certain brushes my girls don't like... and some they are great with.
I started grooming mine young....just gave them little head massages to get them used to it - I never forced them to be brushed so they just learned to enjoy it -
I would wait till nighttime when he's tired and start just brushing to relax him -concentrating on his face and the parts he hates being brushed.... and just do it lightly to get him more used to sounds and feeling....... and then work your way up to maybe a bow or something....
Now lets talk about clipping nails - have you tried THAT yet ? Believe me - then you'll think grooming is a breeze
