I use both. But, when traveling to shows they are in crates. At home, bopping around town, I use the car seats. I love them and so do my dogs, actually very safe, they are double harnessed in. The car seat is fasted in place by the seat belt and the dog harnessed and buckled in. As you say my show dogs are my pets.
