What I did is I went slow. Anything freaks Kaji out. I put my Alex bag on my bed, wrapped him in a blankie and put him to bed in the bag. It was open, and I let him sleep in there as long, or as little as he wanted. He eventually slept in it all night. Next step was to take him out in it. I put his harness on and clipped him to the bag. I didn't close it until he figured out going inside was his safe place, both flaps were open of course. Maybe you could try something similar. I had time to do this since I bought my bag to be able to take him to TN for Thanksgiving, and my bag arrived late Oct, early Nov if I remember correctly.
