Layla does this too and she usually pulls while she is barking. I correct her (tug on the leash) to bring her back beside me and then keep walking. I am of the Casear Millan school that she needs to know I am in control and thus she does not need to protect me by barking. It is going REALLY well- she still tries to pull but her barking has gone way down. I think once you start the socialization classes things will improve as well.
