It is best to leave your puppy get used to sleeping alone. When we got Samy he cried like crazy the first night but we kept him outside the bedroom. We did not buy a play pen so he had a run of the room he was sleeping in but he got used to being on his puppy bed. The first week he would whine and cry after we turn off the lights and close the door but then he got used to it. Now when we turn off the light he knows to go to his bed and sleep. He is completely in the dark and does alright on his own. He knows where his pee pad is and his food and water are. He has a big room all to himself with toys and stuff
We decided that we do not want him in the bed because he would get injured either by us or by falling off... also I am allergic to dog's saliva but no allergic reactions yet because I keep him away from my bed. The female yorkie we were taking care of for a period of time would sleep in our bed because this is the way she was used to since she was young and I started having bad allergic reactions.. She would whine and cry if not in bed with us.. so it is really important that your puppy gets used to being on his own when you are not around.
It is very important not to pick him up when he cries and not to give in to his crying.
