I'm sorry to hear about Poopy. Our Barney (who is also almost 10) just had a bout of pancreatitis as well. It was very painful. We did the subcutaneous fluids and antibiotics as well. We also opted to consult with a board certified veterinary nutritionist to get her diet recommendations. Barney will be going on a very low fat chicken based home cooked diet as this was the best option for him.

I'm sure your mom's vet has told your mom that once he begins eating again in like 2 days, the meals need to be low fat (Barney was ordered to have bland white meat chicken and rice) and very small and gradual increases.

This is a very painful condition for the dog - if your mom sees Poopy hunching over or acting like he is in pain, she should call the vet to get some pain meds if not already on it.
