6 weeks is awfully young and I'm pretty sure that there might not be a consistent potty training thing going on just because he is so young. I got my furbutt at 12 weeks and it took about 3mths to have him COMPLETELY potty trained with no accidents.

As for the whining, most times I would say leave him, but he is a 6 wk old puppy who needs more attention then an 8 - 12 week old puppy. When Cody whined I let him stay in his pen as I personally wouldn't want him to be whining all night and thinking that is what will get him out of the pen. Your not hurting him by letting him stay in the pen, just let him whine it out. He will learn soon. Its like letting a newborn cry through the night.
