I have this carrier too in silver - size large. I love it! I'm 5'8/5'9 and 120lbs (very small framed). My girl is only 2 pounds 1 oz and it's the perfect size for her and me. I put a fuzzy blanket in the bottom even though it's padded and she fits perfectly (not too big or too small). I do like carrying large purses though too, I think the small would have been way too small especially with the blanket. If you are planning on putting 2 dogs in there then I would think you would def. need the large and the large might not even be big enough for 2 dogs. If you want pictures PM me and let me know.
