All yorkies grow coat at different rates. Some are slow growing...usually the thinner silk coats. Some of the soft or modified coats can be thick enough to put a pony in a bit earlier. Placement of the pony can help to get one in on a younger pup no matter what type of coat.
Here is one on my boy Chaos at 12 weeks of age...
