He's going to be on Metacam an anti-inflammatory and pain medication for 10 days, then needs to go back in for a check up at that time. I also have to keep him confined for 14 days so he doesn't aggravate his injury further. I'm hoping it turns out to be a pulled muscle and nothing more. After he got back home, he was being his normal self again, probably because of his injections. Thank you all for you help and warm wishes, it really helped ease my nerves.

P.S Ellie May, I was on edge today being that Gibson was sick and took your response wrong. I understand what you meant, and apologize for jumping to conclusions.
First, I am *so* glad you went to the vet - and that you have a diagnosis so that your baby can be properly treated. A back injury could be very serious and definitely causes severe pain, but it sounds like your vet is on the right track w/ keeping him quiet and confined. I do hope it is just a pulled muscle, though.

I really commend you for apologizing to Ellie May (Crystal) bc, seriously, she offers some of *the* best and most respected advice here (not to mention the others who also posted on this thread ). Just to clarify, the reason she posted (as did others) "get to the vet asap" - is bc when dogs yelp in pain and they've stopped drinking water for an extended time, this is truly an "asap" situation. And in yorkies, as Nancy said, weird pain can even mean pancreatitis. My point is, in this case - the answers you got were spot on .

I know you were really stressed out though, and we all can react this way when our own fur kiddos are hurting and we feel helpless and frustrated, and want answers. I just wanted to offer a little clarification though . Please keep us posted on his progress and know we're all pulling for him. You'll get him through this.
