Just like hitting a child teaches them to hit others; I believe that being rough with a pupster will teach him to bite those under him. How else do they protect themselves? Maybe if you are rough enough, they might fear you and not bite; but I seriously doubt they will fear others. They will have learned from you that being rough with someone/something under them is appropriate.
Just my thoughts. I feel just awful when I hear some of the negative training methods that people employ.
