AKC only insists on DNA testing if you are having over a certain number of litters a year, so it is possible a dog could be registered and not be purebred. Sometimes the owners don't even realize it. If she's registered with another registry, I would even be more suspicious because other registries will take a breeders word for it, and never do any testing; they also will register mixes. Glad you are having a vet check, it's good to know what you are obligating yourself to.
