I have had my pup for 1 month now. The symptoms seem to be staying pretty much the same: itchy throat, runny nose, headache-no hives or asthma. I am toweling him off 1/day with a wet rag, washing him in a shampoo (that doesn't have perfumes, irritants, etc.) 1/week. I wear a mask when I clean the room where his crate stays. He is not allowed in bedrooms. I take claritin every day and some homeopathic drops for pet dander that I purchased at the health food store(they actually do help some).
I hate being allergic to my dog! It is sad.
Does anyone know if allergy shots work? |
I have a grooming client with a Yorkie that I groom that had allergic reactions when she first got her. The owner did see a doctor, and I think the owner did get shots. She is now fine and her and her yorkie are doing well together.
Another good point was mentioned here and that is about products we use on our dogs. Not only can we get an allergic reaction to them, so can the dog. I darn near lost a show girl about 7 years ago because of a new dematting spray I was using. i suspect it was the cedar oil in it, I hadn't read the label. Cedar Oil is bad, I won't use products that have it in it.
