Visiting my Parents Hi everyone! I am visiting my parents in the states for 5 weeks later this year. I am of course taking my little Hepburn with me as 5 weeks is a long time to be with a sitter and he's still a puppy. I was wondering what you all recommend as to introducing Hepburn to my parent's two dogs. I grew up with the two dogs and I have to say they are not that well trained and they are occasionally hostile with each other. One is a wire hair fox terrier, Gibson, and he tends to be a little more docile, but Copper, the welsh terrier, has jaws of steel and bites at even people that come near her food. They both have some food guarding issues. I am concerned that they will gang up on Hepburn, but I am the pack leader in Hepburn's world and my father is the pack leader at my parent's house, so how does that work? My parent's dogs don't listen to me, so I am worried that I will not be able to keep them away from Hepburn and my parents are not really going to do too much (they spoil both dogs, feed them cookies all day and they are both overweight, they took them to training class and ignored everything they learned and the dogs have free run of the house and the yard with no boundaries) I love my parents and their dogs, as they were mine in a sense, but I don't want Hepburn to be traumatized by a bad experience and lack of training in the 5 weeks that I am there.
Any tips? |
