Well, that's too bad. I understand wanting her to be socialized. I did, too.

So, there is the possibility of catching something from another dog, as your vet suggested or her being chilled as another possibility. Has she been coughing? I suppose she has a fever. My guess is that she still had a little of that in her system and hadn't completely fought it off. If it's a bacterial thing, then I suppose that is possible. Has she completed all of her vaccinations? I'm sure she probably has since you had her enrolled in puppy class. I think they require that, don't they?
