What kind of reaction are you having. If you are having hives it could be from their saliva. I am allergic to my sister's dog saliva. The allergist told me I am not allergic to dogs, but that I am allergic to some dog's saliva. He also said that it might not be breed specific. That it just depends on the dander and stuff from his mouth. He said that cats lick themselves more and get their saliva on their fur where dogs don't do this as much. I guess that is why I am deathly allergic to cats but not dogs. So if he is licking you a lot and you are getting hives, it could just be as simple as not letting him lick you
