Thanks everyone for your thoughful responses! I was more-so referring to a breeder neutering a breeding male and then keeping him as a pet from that point on. I am getting ready to retire my 3 year old because I am working on my lines, and I have a better quality 6 month old male that I am watching and training (hopefully) for show. I can't imagine my 3 year old going anywhere else, he is a momma's boy and is very attached to me. I suppose I am not really sure what to do. Would he be happier neutered and staying with his mom (I have had him since he was a baby), but being around unspayed females when he has bred in the past? Or would he be happier adjusting to a new home (which I am positive would take a LONG time for him) where there are no unspayed females? |
