Now with my boys I wraped their side coat hairs to keep them up and clean until I could wrap their whole coat. You must keep the hair on the sides up with boys. I sometimes also use a satin belly band and this helps, but they do not wear it at night - just when they are out in the livingroom/kitchen during the day playing. That is great that you are going to let his coat grow. I have three right now in full coats. It is not too bad.
