geeze.....A TACK! Hum....personally I think I would opt for a trip to the vet for an xray just to see where the little bugger was in the intestines. It's surely small enough to pass.....BUT and this is a big BUT.....how much damage will the sharp end do to the intestines. A perforated intestines WILL lead to perontitis which is nearly always fatal to small dogs....not many humans survive an infection of the adomonial cavity. The cotton ball treatment is a very GOOD option. Some vets even recomend this treatment for injected glass.
As a reminder to everyone......please do keep a watch for such small items. I knew a Yorkie a couple of years ago.....bred by my friend....but living in a pet home. She ate a bread wrapper that had dropped on the floor!! You know the little wire twisty around the bread. She died from perforated intestines.....there was nothing the vet could do....alto he did try very hard....there were just too many small puntures in the intestinal wall. This was so scary to me.....I now throw the twisty in the trash as soon as I open the breed....I have some plastic thingys I brought at walmart to close the bread. Just passing along information!
