You're right, they do either lie or don't really know/care about weight. I've got a Maltese girl here waiting for rescue transport, the greeder as she handed her over says, "she's just a 4lb girl".....I knew better! Sure enough, after getting her home, bathing her, I weighed her....6.5lbs....a "little" more than 4lbs
LOL...this same greeder told me she had a 2lb yorkie
...who knows, maybe her scale is off....Ya, right!! I told my dh, maybe greeders use the same type scales fishermen do
