Thanks so much for the tip, as it is too late to get a back seat car carrier before Turkey Day. I live in a small town, and they don't have anything like that here, or nearby.
The passenger car seat can be disconnected, but then I am at risk if there is an accident.
I will try the backseat idea, but she loves laying on my lap.
However, this is definitely the best as I don't want to risk not having a lap dog.

If you can not invest in a lookout seat for the backseat you could make your own by staking pillows up so she could look out and be entertained. You then would hook her to the backseat seatbelts so in the event of an accident she would not go flying around in the car. This would also protect her when you stop for gas and the car door opens and she couldn't jump out!
