The 7 in 1 is DHLPP-C, I think. The L and C are very controversial and it's something you'll have to come to your own conclusions about. If the L is absolutely necessary, I'd give it as a single.
You can give the DHPP yourself, but I'm not recommending that. If you can't tell your vet that you won't have them done on the same day, then it's time for a new vet. Whether they agree with you or not, you are the boss... After te one year booster for DHPP, he will need it every year if you go the traditional route (not recommended), every three years if you go the AAHA route (not a bad schedule), only upon low titer if you go by Dr. Dodds (another good option), or every 7-9 years or never again if you follow the newest research (would be very hesitant to recommend this).
