I think you did the right thing. Hopefully she will come to YT and learn the things she needs to know. Also, I think mentioning nutical to new puppy owners, no matter what the pups age, is a good idea. I don't think you had a lot of time to get too much more info in at a chance encounter with stangers outside a store.
