The problem with starting at 6 weeks (with regular MLV vaccines) is that they have maternal antibodies. The vaccine blocks the antibodies and the antibodies block the vaccine leaving the pup totally unprotected fro a bit. Eight weeks is really the very easrliest I'd start with one of those vaccines. You may even be able to wait til 10 weeks. They shouldn't be finished til 16 weeks minimum because not all dogs "accept" them until quite a bit after 12 weeks. In fact, stopping at 18 weeks is a better idea. I would not stop using a regular MLV vaccine at 12 weeks. The pup could possibly stay unprotected for it's first year of life that way...
