Mine both poo and pee on the Wiz dog (indoor dog potty). Just keep trying, eventually they will understand that's what you want.
PS - my girl pup was able to stay in her crate all night for a few weeks - now she cries around 2am to be let out for a pee. A general rule I've heard is that puppies can hold it as many hours as months they are old plus two (ex - 3 month old puppy --> 3 + 2 = 5 hours
