I always went with chicken bits for training classes to motivate my dogs. I also like freeze dried liver bits.
The newest little training treat I like is called "Little Stars" (we sell those on our site, they are the size of a pencil eraser, and are organic)

The best treat though, is any treat that motivates your dog to do the commands you are teaching him and for some dogs, you need to be really high value with your treats (chicken). Our Teddy was so afraid in puppy class that he did not make friends til the last day and he spit out his chicken and any treat. So it depends on the dog!
