This is correct. The EU-compliant chips are 15 digits. PetLink is EU compliant which is the chip Remy has.

Many companies/chips in the US only have 9 digits, which are not EU compliant. If you have one of these, and do not intend to obtain one that is EU compliant then I believe you need to bring your own scanner.

You can check online for EU / country specific entry requirements. Look at the embassy websites. Also, look into US re-entry. Proof of current rabies vaccine as prior poster said is a requirement. Many countries also require you to have a vet health letter that is dated within 10 days of your travel date.
