I've left my 4 month old in her crate for 8 hrs, and the same thing happened. I don't think there is much that can be done other than not leaving them alone for so long... eventually when you give her free run of the house when you are gone, the problem should solve itself.

She's 6 months and confined to her xpen. She's not being crated for 12 hours. Hopefully she will get the hang of the pads soon.
