I will be very honest...I got Sam at 6 weeks 2 days old...and boy do i regret it. They learn so much from their parents and siblings during the 6-12 week period. With that being said i work 11 hour days and luckily i only work 2 minutes from home and my roomate and i would stagger our lunches so Sam got a 2 hour break during the day. At first from 6 weeks to about 10 or 11 weeks he was in a baby pack n play, this gave him room to play and sleep and i made a divider so that he'd also have a seperate place for his pee pad to go. He is no 8 months old and since he was about 11 weeks he was been in my bathroom. Luckily it's a good size room...he loves it, it's newly constructed and had a linen closet that was never finished so that is his hide out. he's got 2 beds, 3 blankets, a toy box all on one side of the room...then his pee pad is right next to the toliet and his food dish is on the other side of the room. I think the main thing is that you (or someone) can check on him and make sure that he's ok. At 8 months and 10 lbs Sam can hold his bladder the entire 11 hours i'm away but i would NEVER ask him to. (he has a pee pad in his room but he only uses it maybe once a week) it's one thing for him to hold it all night long but all day is way too much. Just give him a lot of love and please please becareful, a puppy that young is so very fragile. Good luck to you and your puppy. |
