I don't know enough to offer advise. But sure sounds like they gave him the works without your permission. Think I'd change vets after I rack them over the coals.
Might want to keep some bynadril handy in case he has a reaction (swelling). In case of swelling you'll need to get him to vet. But, hopefully he won't.
