Yes, I agree, it's really important to understand the breed, and all the health problems associated with the breed. Because of the popularity, breeders have been breeding them for money, not a love of the breed, so this means they have skimped on research and health testing. I do want to warn you that because of the economy, many rescues are having a hard time placing dogs, and many good breeders are cutting back in their breeding programs because they are having a hard time finding suitable homes. Finding a good home for the offspring is a very important responsibly for the breeder, and many breeders are taking a monitory loss to do this. Please don't go into breeding because you want to earn extra money, only if you have a true passion for breeding. Otherwise, you will not want to do all the reading and research that is necessary.
