I thought of posting this on the regional forum but thought it was a good reminder to all. On the news yesterday there was an alert issued for dog owners in western Michigan, specifically Grand Rapids and the Lake Michigan lakeshore. A group supporting shelters, called Pound Buddies, are trying to get the word out after police received several reports of stolen dogs in this part of the state. There have been a rash of dognapping especially small expensive dogs. Dog owners were warned that a woman and man in a white van are going around this part of the state taking small dogs for the purpose of breeding and selling the pups. One little 8 year old girl was in her front yard with her new little French Bulldog puppy when a man came out of the van and actually ripped the little dog right out of her arms.

These little dogs are also being stolen out of fenced yards while the owners are at home. Just a reminder to always keep your puppies within reach and keep children with dogs supervised. This man could just as easily taken the child, too.
