Yes...the handles are super secure....actually they become more secure when the pup is in the bag more so than when empty. Since the space for the pup is there, when Snick was out of the bag, the handle did slip off my shoulder once but then I realized I left the bag zipper open, so when I closed it and carried it empty (w/o Snick in it) it was very secure.
I can't say enough good things about it. I'm off to Hobby Lobby this weekend with Snick...apparently, they are super animal friendly there. I'm going to the one on Hall Rd and Schoehnerr.
