Your yorkies coat will depend on her parents. I got Ruby when she was five months old and she's always had a fine, thin, silky coat. Reno was 14 weeks old when I got him and he had a thicker, fluffy coat as a puppy, which is now more of what I consider a modified coat. Reno did lose some puppy coat, and the puppy mats were not fun to deal with. Ruby though never went through that stage.
A good quality food and proper grooming, will help your yorkie's coat reach it's full potential, but won't produce what genetically isn't within the dog.
