Aw, don't be so down on Mississippi. It's just like most places....there's good and bad everywhere. I'm from Mississippi but I lived in the Berkshires in Connecticut for several years and there are folks there that have never seen the other side of the mountain. Mississippi doesn't have a monopoly on being backwards.
I appreciate your explaining about the cattle auctions. I've cursed the 'dollar menu' before and knew that was no good behind it. People don't seem to care (or think about) what happens in the background as long as they can save a buck. We won't get better until we demand better.
As for the politics behind this bill, I fully blame the House for this. As you know, Mississippi is a state with a relatively weak governor, with the legislature really running things. This bill is dead for the year but I hope we can use the time between now and the next session to help ensure this bill's passage. |
