That just breaks my heart that you said you didn't want him if he was going to be 5.5 lbs. My dog was supposed to be 4.5 lbs bc parents were around that size. She has outgrown her parents and I don't care she is healthy and beautiful and I love her just the same. I don't worry about her having health issues.
You can't not want a dog bc it grows too big. That just breaks my heart. You should love your dog for it being unique and having a special personality. Did your parents stop loving you if you gained weight?
When you buy a dog it is a lifetime commitment. Think about all the things he does that you love about him and ask yourself if you could really live without him. If you say yes than I think you should re-home him and NOT get another dog.
There is NO Guarantee about what weight your dog should be. Being curious about trying to estimate is one thing, but not wanting him bc he outgrew your expectations is just wrong. That is how I feel.
