The link Wylies Mom posted in the Articles section is excellent. I was always kind of overwhelmed by the options of pet insurance, but it has a really good, simple analysis of I think ten major insurers. I don't even remember which one I got, it was just the one most highly recommended, and Thor is now on the gold plan.

It had one very good rec that stood out for me, which is to look for insurance has good "worst case scenario" coverage, not insurance with good coverage of standard medical expenses. It's not about getting a few hundred $ a year back on annual wellness checkups, it's about coverage when your dog needs $10K of immediate surgery.
