You are so right. I used to put my little one out in her fenced yard, locked gate. Big 1/3 acre. Somehow I just did not realize how small Poohbear is or how BIG hawks are. Last summer I heard a small swoosh and by the time I turned feathers were floating everywhere and a Big fat pigeon was gone. It was clutched in the talons as this small hawk rose quietly in the air. Shortly after that we spent weeks watching a Red Tail Hawk build a nest in a big tall palm tree, and 2 babies being raised. During this whole thing we watched as big frogs, racoons, possums, big snakes and what looked like a cat as they were offered for meals. Needless to say, this sure opened my eyes to how dangerous it is for our little babies out in their big safe yard. I know my aunt did the same thing with her little silky. Everything was locked up and noone could get in..But at daylight she let her little one out to potty. She heard one little squeak as she stood in her bedroom looking out to see a coyote carry her little one down the back hill that was so steep no one ever used it for anything. She found a little foot later. It happens so fast. I like you, stand there and bring them in when they finish.. They are just to small to be left out for a minute.
