I can't bring myself to do that, besides, to me that's telling them that it's OK to go potty on the bed. I've let Sir sleep in my bed since he first came home. I know, everyone says crate training is the way to go but I couldn't leave him in the crate all alone that first night.
Before bed, I make sure to take him out one last time and then we immediately go to bed (no water or snacks). Then in the morning before I do anything I take him outside. This seemed to be a good process because he learned that the bedroom was sort of his den, and then slowly figured out that the rest of the house was off-limits, too. He's to the point now where if it's a real emergency, he'll lick me and make a fuss till we go out.
But at first I'm sure your puppy will have accidents, so pee pads on the floor next to your bed might be a good idea if you want to go this route.
