I've let Sir sleep in my bed since he first came home. I know, everyone says crate training is the way to go but I couldn't leave him in the crate all alone that first night.
Before bed, I make sure to take him out one last time and then we immediately go to bed (no water or snacks). Then in the morning before I do anything I take him outside. This seemed to be a good process because he learned that the bedroom was sort of his den, and then slowly figured out that the rest of the house was off-limits, too. He's to the point now where if it's a real emergency, he'll lick me and make a fuss till we go out.
But at first I'm sure your puppy will have accidents, so pee pads on the floor next to your bed might be a good idea if you want to go this route.

Hope this helps!
