I think your first dog is trying to establish herself as Alpha right off the bat - probably to be expected.

Is your new dog a puppy? It may take a few weeks for them to get things sorted out - but they probably will.

As long as your oldest is not actually hurting your newest addition, try not to interfere too much - they will work things out.

She doesn't like the puppy up on the couch or the furniture - becuase high places are reserved for the 'Queen". If furniture is going to be an issue = try to make that off limits for both of them - just for now.

Give them some separate time with you and a place for your oldest to get away from the puppy and have some 'quiet time'. Puppy's are in non-stop play mode and adult dogs aren't.

PS: Show your oldest lots of attention and affection right now - she needs to know that she has not lost her 'status'. Feed her first; greet her first; treat her first; leash her first . . . you get the idea.
