hmmm, interesting thread. I just tell my dogs, all 4 of them (toy poodle, yorkie mix, sheltie and beagle) a sharp NO, when they are barking more than I like and they stop. The only time they will continue for more than a few minutes and I have say NO more than once is when someone new enters the house and when the Amish go by the house with thier very loud horse and buggies, it drives them nuts.
I have never had to use anything else. I guess I must be lucky
... I would consider using one of those devices though if I had too, defintily a better alternative to a shock collar. I will let my neighbor know, they keep one on their outside dog all the time..
