I have 3 dog scales.. Two are for puppies and one is for bigger pups and dogs. Mine are calibrated and I weigh them regularly. The scales at most, if not all vet clinics are also calibrated so they are very rarely off.

Mine always match up with the vets scales. I was shocked when I got Mindy and weighed her and she was 10 pounds..LOL.. She is no doubt bigger than my other 3 yorkies, but she did not feel 1 pounds to me at all.

Do you free feed or do you measure your dogs food? I measure it and then leave it out all day since I have several dogs and some are evening eaters and some morning eaters. None of my dogs are over weight..Watch those high fat dog foods though..

I also think as our dogs gain we don't notice it as much because as they fain slowly we get used to the change in weight and just don't feel the gain.

We think Mindy has to have something else in her, she has a curly coat. When we got her from hubbys co-worker she was pretty much shaved and as it has grown in it has gotten pretty curly
