I work 8 hrs a day, 5 days a week and my husband does too, unless it rains or is very cold. I had one yorkie for a couple months and did feel sorry for her being alone all day. After she died, I got 2 because I had been planning on getting a companion for her. Now I have Moses and Isabel and I don't think Moses would make it thru the day if he had to stay alone. Isabel would, she would just sit on the back of the chair and bark at any and everything; but Mosey is very anxious and she, being older, calms him. So, they are confined to one area with food, water and pee pads and they are left alone 8 - 10 hours a day some days. But, that said, I have never had a puppy - my first 3 were 1 year old or more when I got them and Mosey was 6 months. I'd probably worry more if I had a puppy. My sister in law had a puppy and we all felt sorry for him being left alone. When my other sister in law looked into getting a yorkie puppy, her husband told her to get 2 so they could keep each other company. So she has Hank & Jr and poor little Chopper is left alone all day. Chop is well loved and gets undivided attention when they are home, but he's alone 8 hrs a day.
