She is five years old and the likelihood of her having blood sugar problems is slim. I would not worry about that. But, just in case, if you see her getting a bit confused and weak looking then she might need something. You could put some Karo syrup in water for her; but, as I said, I doubt that will happen.

I also would not be cooking eggs or anything else for her! She needs to start with good eating habits! Put her on a schedule of feeding, twice/day. I much prefer giving them kibble. Even if she had extractions she can eat that....you can soften it a bit with warm water. Put the food down for 15 minutes...if she does not eat it, pick it up. She will eat when she is hungry and ready!

She just needs to be left to explore your home and get comfortable. If you have a crate, put a blanket in there and show it to her, so she has a safe place to retreat to should she choose to do so.

Let her come to you....on her terms. Let her come to realize on her own that she is safe.

All pups when placed in a new home go through some changes....they are bewildered. Sometimes it takes 2 or 3 days before they will eat. That is perfectly normal! Leave fresh water for her at all times.

Did you get this girl from a rescue or a shelter? Sounds like they did not tell you very much. I am so sorry because people should have someone to turn to when they adopt.....we always follow up and make sure pups are adjusting well.

As for housetraining...you will not know about that for a few days. She is scared and nothing will be normal for her. She might have been pad trained...you could put a piddle pad down in case she knows how to use that. And, you can take her outside every couple of hours. Praise her whenever she piddles outside. Don't make an issue if she goes inside. Just pick her up and take her out...eventually with positive reinforcement she will get it.

I feel so sad that she is underweight and just got spayed. I don't understand how someone could adopt her out like that. Feel free to PM me if you need anything.

I am sure in a few days all will be much calmer! Congrats on your new family member. What is her name?
